Technical Writer -Space Electronica Warfare

Northstrat is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Technical Writer for our 5 year production contract to produce and maintain space electronic warfare systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing technical documentation that ensures clear communication, compliance with government standards, and the accurate representation of technical processes and systems. The type of documentation the Tech Writer is expected to produce are program plans and processes, test completion and quality completion documentation for the production systems, software sustainment documentation and other program documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Development
- Develop a program style guide and conforming templates for all documents, spreadsheets and presentations for both formal and informal customer delivery
- Collaborate with the technical staff to create and update technical manuals, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, CDRLs, Develop and maintain system specifications documentation, design documents, and test procedures.
- Draft reports, briefings, and presentations tailored to various stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible language
- Document workflows, production processes, and operational procedures.
- Responsible for taking meeting minutes for customer and internally driven meetings
- Assemble minutes and notes taken from other members into a concise contract deliverables
Compliance and Standardization
- Ensure all documentation adheres to provided customer standards.
Document Management
- Use document management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to store and organize files.
- Ensure timely updates and revisions based on project changes or new requirements.
Process and Workflow Support
- Create visual aids like flowcharts, diagrams, and tables to enhance understanding.
- Assist in preparing training materials for team members and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must be proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Sharepoint, Confluence.
- Demonstrated experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in government or production environments.
- Experience in developing documents and procedures within different development methodologies (agile, waterfall, sustainment)
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Must have a security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred:
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Knowledge of federal or military documentation standards
- Experience with XML-based content authoring systems.
- Certification in technical writing or a related discipline.
- Experience working on contracts requiring security clearance.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools like Visio or Adobe Illustrator.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Flex Time
Northstrat does not mandate specific working hours. Although project requirements may dictate schedules, a Northstrat employee is only required to work an average of 8 hours per weekday over the course of a month. For example: John worked 12 hours on June 1st to meet a project deadline. On June 15th, John only worked 4 hours because he left early for a long weekend. John’s IBA was not debited for time off because flex time allowed him to carry over those 4 hours from June 1st.
