Position Summary
Webber Infrastructure Management is mobilizing a large highway maintenance contract for the Virginia Department of Transportation in Northern Virginia district area (NOVA), in the counties of Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick and Warren.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Area Managers must be knowledgeable of transportation maintenance activities and processes with a minimum of two (2) years in documented experience in highway maintenance or construction projects as an active Supervisor. Responsibilities include:
• Work with the Project Manager to determine the best approach (self-performance or sub-contract) for bringing assets into contract compliance considering cost, timelines and efficiency. Plan and coordinate all work items.
• Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure compliance with contract requirements
• Supervisory responsibility including the selection, development and performance management of maintenance crews. Facilitate all required new hire training and ongoing required safety and work standard training.
• Respond to incident emergencies and coordinate work of on-site responders. Report accident/injury (actual and near misses).
• Coordinate with the fleet teams/mechanic for inspection, calibration and repair of the fleet.
• Manage, monitor and control highway project assets and materials.
• Identify opportunities for changes and improvements in work methods, processes, efficiency and cost reduction.
• Create and manage successful completion of all work orders.
• Assist and monitor routine work plan activities such as traffic control and maintenance work.
• Be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform condition assessment of pavements, signs, guardrails, tunnels, bridges, vegetation and other contract infrastructure and assets.
• Schedule and coordinate work to be performed.
• Daily supervision of all technicians, laborers, specialists and subcontractors working in his/her assigned area.
• Ensuring that preventative maintenance is being performed on schedule and service calls are responded to and completed within the allotted time.
• Performing daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
• Providing a material request for items needed to complete projects.
• Identifies or verifies required maintenance work, interprets contract, schedules and coordinates in-house or sub-contractor work and ensures work meets contract specifications.
• Ensure all aspects of the contract are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, effective and profitable manner.
• Responsible for supervising maintenance crews effectively
• Responsible for the overall safety of all project personnel. Promotes a positive safety culture in the workplace through personal example and by requiring full compliance of all safety policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintain a relationship with the customer that reflects a partnership approach and demonstrates sound understanding of the customer's needs. Develops a customer service culture throughout the project. Effectively resolves problems and concerns of the client.
• Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
• Positively contribute to a diverse, inclusive and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying and harassment.
• Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
• Monitors Rehabilitation activities to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished, to include O & M Manual development, design review, planning, and facility/system acceptance following renewal/rehabilitation.
