Job Description

This internship opportunity is in the Process Chemistry group which plays a key role in developing transformative technologies that can launch new manufacturing strategies as part of AbbVie’s infrastructure. Under the supervision of a senior scientist, the intern will focus on advancing AbbVie’s AI goals by utilizing state of the art HTE technology, enabling active learning and the development of new generation AI reactivity models for process critical reactions.  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Design and execution of high-throughput experiments using automation technology. 
  • Characterization and analysis of experimental results. 
  • Curation of datasets for use in AI/ML applications. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Chemistry or other related fields 
  • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship  
  • Developed skills in synthetic chemistry and Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, including analytical methods (HPLC, NMR) 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – July 2027 
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including analysis and providing suggestions for additional experiments, including design and development of new assays. 
  • Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction. Can
