Selective Insurance is seeking a VP of Field Operations who will be responsible for the growth and profitability of a territory through the management of a field sales and marketing team and associated support staff. Exhibits critical knowledge, skills and ability to market Selective and grow premium. Develops strong agency relationships and presence within the territory through regular agency visits and strong agency management activities. Establishes collaborative business partnerships with inside underwriting teams and corporate SBU partners and is highly engaged in the implementation of strategies and actions aligned to delivering profitable growth and expanding market share.
- Develops, implements, and articulates strategic plans to meet or exceed territory goals, relentlessly pursuing profitable business and share of wallet through the supervision, training, coaching, and monitoring of AMS activities and goals.
- Exhibits critical business acumen, strategy development, and leadership skills. Aligns strategic and tactical plans for measurement and monitoring of objectives, course corrections and resource utilization.
- Partners with regional and corporate management to establish territory financial goals. Identifies under-performing agents and develops a strategy to develop Selective’s brand within agency.
- Exhibits a good working knowledge of current business conditions, the competition and territory specific issues. Uses this information to cultivate strong business relationships, overcome obstacles and find common ground for pursuing business opportunities.
- Builds an effective sales team by developing and executing consistent agency management practices through the AMS staff.
- Provides updates and communicates expectations related to activity, production, customer service and market opportunity within territory.
- Identifies opportunities for performance acceleration and initiates plans for continuous improvement.
- Oversees activities, workflows, and productivity of staff to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, consumer and technical standards.
- Promotes the use of technology to improve overall efficiency, productivity, and service levels both internally and externally.
- Develops effective internal and external collaborative partnerships across claims, underwriting and sales related functions to understand business developments and establish a support network to address business and customer service needs. Communicates with internal partners regarding products, claims issues, underwriting risk selection, rates and customer retention.
- Works with regional management and AMSs in preparing and participating in a variety of meeting forums, including conferences, producer council meetings and regional sales meetings. Effectively articulates detailed territory strategy to executives and agents.
- Responsible for automobile travel within territory traveling to agency offices. Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory, car travel represents approximately 20-25% of employee’s time.
- Open to giving and receiving candid feedback and using new perspectives to improve territory performance.
