Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

We are seeking a Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical engineering student interested in a summer internship focused on manufacturing test engineering support of Intuitive’s da Vinci surgical robotic systems.  Intuitive is ramping up the production of our Peachtree Corners, GA surgical robotic systems manufacturing facility. This position will be a key member of the manufacturing engineering team that will support developing and improving our manufacturing testing. You will get hands on experience writing manufacturing test scripts, developing, building and validating test fixtures, and supporting a medical device production line.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering tasks and problem-solving activities related to medical device manufacturing and surgical robotic systems
•  Design, qualify, document, and introduce production assembly/test scripts, fixtures, and equipment
• Provides technical support analyzing and /or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, and assemblies
• Participates in initiative focused on yield improvement, and capacity enhancement
• Perform Solid Works design and drawing activities
• Perform engineering tests
• Perform documentation activities
• Must possess strong communication skills to interface with technicians, product development, planning, purchasing, regulatory, inspection, customer support and clinical marketing organizations

Qualifications

University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

• University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
• Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10 – 12 week period starting in May to June and finishing before the beginning of the fall semester. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

• Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level
• Strong foundational engineering and analytical skills
• Prior experience in modifying test code: Python, Matlab, C, C++, Lab Windows, Java
• Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for engineering activities
• Self-starter and able to work in a collaborative and results oriented environment
• Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral) with multiple teams
