The Data Center Capacity Delivery team is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Commissioning organization as the AMER East Regional Commissioning Manager. You will manage a fast-moving, intelligent team of commissioning professionals delivering data center capacity to support Amazon’s growth in the AMER East region in North America with strategic influence of how we scale to support other AMER locations in LATAM and South America.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a multi-city, or international team of highly skilled individuals. The candidate will possess a mechanical, electrical, construction, and commissioning project management background that enables him/her to undertake the challenges of ensuring the quality and reliability of sophisticated electrical, mechanical and cooling systems to our customers. They will need to demonstrate the ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning commissioning program with the larger objectives of the business.
This role will oversee all in-region operations, including team quality delivery, customer satisfaction, resource planning, and maintaining a high bar across a 50+ person regional team.
Key job responsibilities
As a leader of the Commissioning East region managers and cluster teams, you will have broad responsibility for hiring, developing, and cultivating a high-performing and capable team.
Creating a team vision and establishing priorities that align with roadmaps, goals, and relevant metrics for measuring both internal and external performance.
Lead cross-functional coordinator and execution teams independently within AWS Infrastructure Services to drive quality-focused initiatives aimed at improving quality, inspection/testing standards, and reducing system defects.
Utilizing your understanding of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure technology and lifecycles, you identify improvement areas in existing and next-generation data center technologies and testing methodologies.
Communicating and providing guidance to Finance during the development and execution of capital budgets.
Utilizing methodical approaches, experience, innovation, and judgment, deliver solutions to complex problems through in-depth data analysis and forensics, often making decisions based on partial information.
Partner with vendor Procurement teams to oversee vendor service providers to ensure their skills, competencies, and performance meet the requirements for enabling successful project deployments.
Discover ways to adapt to constant change and innovation, thinking big and offering flexible solutions for a dynamic business environment.
Prepare and present project status and risk reports, comprehending the detailed implications of decisions and recommendations, and effectively communicate suggested solutions to executive leadership.
Travel up to 25% within assigned region and occasional international travel with peer groups.
A day in the life
A typical day for a Regional Cx Manager begins with a in-region leadership call to align on critical project status and escalations across the region. Next, you review a monthly capacity delivery forecast and resource plan, strategizing with direct reports on resource allocation across multiple ongoing data center (DC) commissioning projects. The late morning involves a status review and/or strategic planning session with stakeholders to resolve escalations across projects and to optimize the commissioning approach for next-generation data center design. At noon, the technical SME team conducts a review of proposed technical script improvements and known quality risks in current builds, including proposed changes to commissioning procedures based on lessons learned and emerging technologies.
