Department Overview

 

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

 

Acts as mission commander during aerial patrol flights and performs aerial patrolling of PG&E natural gas facilities in adherence and compliance with all PG&E guidelines, FAA regulations, and federal, state, and local laws. Collaborates with the pilot and crew to ensure compliance, safety, and cleanliness of an aircraft. Conducts pre-flight mission briefing, navigates flight path using GIS applications, operates multispectral equipment, observes and reports observations, and performs post-flight data processing.

 

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $34.13 to $54.33

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Leads the team's day-to-day operations in support of the team and the supervisor.
  • Schedules aerial patrol operations in coordination with supervisor, Aviation Services, Helicopter Operations, pilots, and contractors to meet patrol frequency requirements and accommodate special flight requests.
  • Performs the Pipeline Patrol activities in accordance with PG&E policies and procedures to ensure compliance with code requirements.
  • Supports special requests for collection of data as trained and/or qualified (e.g. photo & video collection, LiDAR collection, thermography, etc.)
  • Maintains inventory of aerial patroller equipment.
  • Provides regular metrics and program reports to supervisor.
  • Directs quality control efforts for data collection and processing.
  • Perform peer performance evaluations of aerial patrollers and pilots.
  • Performs basic GIS functions required for daily patrol operations including creating custom lines for daily flights, quarterly flight plan cutting, monthly exceptions, daily flight track editing, daily flight track appending, project tracking dashboard creation.
  • Maintains training, Operator Qualification, and performance evaluation records of aerial patrollers.
  • Assists with the development and revision of current aerial patrol guidelines, training guides, etc.
  • May act as a representative of the Pipeline Patrol Program and PG&E when attending conferences, events, etc.
  • Coordinates across lines of business to ensure all work is being performed to client’s specifications
  • Dispatches any observations found during patrols to field personnel for follow-up. Ensures all observations have been responded to.
  • Perform duties of Associate level job, as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum:

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Aerial survey experience
  • 1 Year GIS experience
  • Current active certification in first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License or equivalent on day one of hire
