Inbound Verification and Food Safety Specialist

Job Description:

Inbound Verification & Food Safety Specialist - manages the pre-shipment and inbound verification program for raw materials to ensure the Quality and Food Safety of materials received for use in Mars facilities. This role also drives continuous improvement of material specifications and/or supplier processes through data trending and analyses while supporting the development and implementation of other relevant food safety programs within Mars Wrigley North America

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements

• BS degree in Food Safety, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related technical field or equivalent

• 1-2 years of experience in different quality related areas such as raw materials, packaging, distribution, manufacturing, quality management systems

• Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experienced in implementation or management of GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000 or ISO9000

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Manage pre-shipment and inbound verification program by setting sampling frequencies based on supplier status and Material Risk Assessment (MRA) requirements to ensure compliance with the Material Quality Management Standard.

• Drives improvements to Mars raw specifications through test results trend analysis.

• Initiates escalation and creates supplier non conformances for supplier corrective action based on material specification deviations.

• Develop inbound verification processes and associated training materials to standardize the raw material receiving processes across Mars

• Create sampling plans in SAP for all inbound raw materials and ensure tests are being performed by either the supplier or third-party laboratory in accordance with our requirements

• Evaluate test results for conformance and issue non-conformances for all deviations to specification ensuring communication to sites and Supplier Quality Assurance team

• Provide Supplier Quality Assurance with test results for raw trend analysis and continuous improvement at supplier facilities and advise during supplier disputes.

• Act as primary backup for Associate Scientist Inbound Packaging

• Support other relevant Quality and Food Safety initiatives to drive standardization and compliance across Mars manufacturing sites.

• Develop, review and update relevant business unit food safety documents in support of Mars Wrigley North America manufacturing sites.

• Identify continuous improvement opportunities relating to Inbound Verification and other food safety relevant programs

• Support Business Unit Internal Audit program as an Internal Auditor

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
