Sr. Backend Engineer

What does a successful Senior Backend Engineer do at Fiserv?

Join Clover’s Retail team as a Senior Backend Engineer and help shape the online shopping experience for thousands of merchants. You’ll play a key role in building scalable, high-performance Java services that power retail commerce, from behind-the-scenes infrastructure to customer-facing innovation. If you’re passionate about clean architecture and making an impact at scale, this is your opportunity to lead meaningful change in a collaborative, fast-moving team.

What you will do:

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of backend software that drives Clover’s retail online shopping experience.  
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to turn business needs into clean, scalable solutions. 
• Write, test, and debug high-quality Java code, and work across SQL and NoSQL databases to ensure performance and reliability. 
• Build and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS, Azure, or GCP services. 
• Drive improvements in our CI/CD pipeline and champion DevOps best practices across the team. 
• Refactor and enhance existing codebases while guiding design and code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers and help the team level up through technical coaching and collaboration.

What you will need to have:

• ​​Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.  
• 4-6 years of experience in software development. 
• 5+ years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• 4+ years of experience in SQL databases and NoSQL. 
• 2+ years of experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP services. 
• 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. 
• 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies.

Salary Range

$108,900.00 - $186,800.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
