About the role

Job Summary:

The Providence Center Clinical Therapist Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) will provide outpatient psychotherapy, complete intake assessments and work with multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.

  • Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.

  • Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.

  • Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).

  • Perform and record mental status examination.

  • Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.

  • Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with TPC policy and legal requirements.

  • Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.

  • Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.

  • Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.

  • Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems.

  • Provide brief psychotherapy if appropriate.

  • Provide group therapy.

  • Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.

  • Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.

  • Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.

  • Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other TPC requirements.

  • Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.

  • Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.

  • Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public.

  • Serve on appropriate Center committees.

  • Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.
