Conduct scientific research to improve agricultural product biological, chemical, and physical properties. Apply scientific expertise in agricultural principals to improve plant yield and enhance production. Use scientific testing results to improve production operations of nurseries and grow top-quality plants. May perform additional duties that are similar and consistent with stated position requirements.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree (or a foreign degree that is equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree) in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or closely related field plus 5 years of experience. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
- Soilless agriculture using coconut substrate to manage nutrient solutions and control feeding and growth
- Production of fresh blackberry fruit
- Using microbiology in soil to regenerate the microbial habitat and biochemical processes that increase agricultural productivity
- Organic and conventional management for the production of long canes in hydroponics
- Integrated pest and disease management using entomopathogenic fungi and natural parasitoids
Requires Bilingual Spanish/English.
Salary Range: $139,999 to $153,000
