Apply today!The Assistant Director, Human Resources (ADHR) will work closely with the Chief Human Resource and Training Officer (CHRTO) and provide general Human Resources duties. ADHR is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of human resources functions and duties on a professional level. ADHR will contribute to our commitment to Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women while delivering efficient and effective HR services.
Essential Functions of the Job:
General Duties:
- Assist in creating a positive work environment through employee engagement and well-being initiatives.
- Partner with CHRTO to ensure seamless integration of HR policies and processes;
- Support and collaborate with CHRTO to run and submit applicable reports in a timely manner;
- Partner with CHRTO and insurance vendor to verify employee’s ACA eligibility;
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with YWCA's mission and goals;
- Create purchase orders as needed for the HR department with the approval of the CHRTO;
- Prepare and process appropriate enrollments/ employee change form (i.e., terminations, promotion, demotion, lateral move, and status change), after obtaining appropriate signatures;
- Assist in other duties as assigned.
Benefits:
- Administer employee benefits programs (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, COBRA, Workers Comp, Retirement, and plan enrollments, and changes);
- Serve as liaison to insurance companies and acts as a resource directly to employees about benefits related questions and issues;
- Assist with new hire orientations and conduct benefits orientations and explain the benefits self-enrollment system;
- Address benefit inquiries from employees to ensure timely and accurate resolution;
- Ensure changes and updates to benefits are entered and done in a timely manner;
- Maintain employee benefits administration systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately within the HRIS, so that the Payroll Specialist may enter accurate payroll deductions;
- Collaborate with CHRTO to prepare annual open enrollment by working with benefits broker and benefits enrollment system;
- Assists with open enrollment meetings and distributing materials to YWCA Hartford Region employees.
Leave of Absence:
- Coordinate and administer all claims and Leaves paperwork requests: medical disability, FMLA, and state leaves (where applicable) and submit to CHRTO for approval, before processing;
- Provide information to staff on Leave and ADA eligibility and process;
- Monitor applicable Leave hours and communicate with management, employees, and CHRTO;
- Ensure managers/ supervisors are properly documenting approved Leave in the Time and Labor System.
Workers Compensation:
- Capture new and active Workers Compensation claims;
- Manage communication with Workers Compensation and communicate return to work plans with managers;
- Assist managers and staff in reporting work-related injuries to workers’ compensation insurance carrier; coordinate related issues with management and CHRTO.
Compliance:
- Update HR Bulletin Board on policies, and applicable laws and employee rights;
- Assist in communicating policies to staff and managers by answering questions and guiding them to the appropriate tools such as policy manual, employee handbook, memo’s and staff meetings;
- Other duties as assigned by the CHRTO in the areas of Benefits, collaboration/ partnership, leave of absence, workers compensation, compliance, payroll, reports, and administrative duties.
Training
- Develop and assist the CHRTO with preparation of mandatory trainings, and survey initiatives
Requirements
Education:
- Associates Degree required;
- Bachelors preferred. Degree concentration in Human Resources or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ prior human resources experience required; Preferably in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, HR Leadership role or HR Generalist;
- Experience in Human Resources compensation is preferred but not required;
- Experience with HR systems (i.e., Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS));
- General knowledge of employment laws and practices required.
