Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architect to be based in New York, NY or in the surrounding area.
This position is expected to begin in August 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Understanding NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
- Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.
- Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
- Under some supervision, may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.
- Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.
- This role requires frequent travel between job sites during the workday. Mileage / gas will be reimbursed or a company vehicle will be provided.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field with Landscape Architecture Experience
- Valid Driver's License and ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Be knowledgeable with NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design experience.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel, Bluebeam, or Adobe Photoshop and have experience in obtaining field measurements and preparing site plans.
- Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dusts, and noise.
- Excellent business writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines.
- Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
- Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
- Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.

- Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.
- Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.
- May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
- May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

- Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $59,000 - $74,000.
