We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Principal of Engineering to design our efforts in building platforms that serve as the foundation for PayPal’s Consumer Experiences across PayPal and Venmo. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep technical background and a passion for building reusable capabilities that speedup developers and anticipate the needs of our software stack.

Meet Our Team:
The Consumer Platform team is responsible for providing foundation platform services and frameworks for the most important Consumer Experiences at PayPal. We’re embarking on a multi-year journey to reinvent the service architecture that powers Consumer Experiences and enables engineers to build with simplicity.

Your day to day:

Strategic Leadership:  

• Develop and execute an architectural strategy that solidifies the foundational platform technologies to power all Consumer experiences at PayPal  

• Identify and analyze latest trends in technology to decide what to build, buy, or leverage  

Platform Development:  

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of distributed systems, employee-configured platforms, and frameworks that 40+ teams' leverage  

• Ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, secure, and provides an excellent developer experience.  

Developer Relations:  

• Build and maintain strong relationships with the developer community.  

• Gather feedback to continuously improve platform offerings and address developer needs.  

Cross-Functional Collaboration:  

• Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to align platform initiatives with business objectives.  

• Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all activities meet regulatory standards.
