JOB TITLE:  QC Lab Technician                                               DEPARTMENT: Lab

LOCATION: Independence, KY                                                 REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Check and maintain the quality of raw materials and finished goods, before, during and after all productions; through spraying, evaluating and adjusting color formulations.  Work with CD Lab as required. Interact with production to clearly communicate test results, formula adjustments and corrective actions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Must have the ability to see, judge and evaluate minor color differences.
  • Must have the ability to adjust color formulations to correct out of spec material.
  • Pull, Spray and test incoming material from customers in a timely manner, to identify any possible defects.
  • Create Formula sheets from a Master Standard to meet batch specific color targets.
  • Perform a variety of daily tests that require swift judgment and interpretation of results.
  • Review, complete and enter information into a variety of forms, logs and reports, detailing test results and shift summary.
  • Meet and maintain all internal and external quality standards.
  • Have the ability to explain in detail, the current status of each production during shift transitions.
  • Perform internal and external audits and projects as requested.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • All mix sheets should reference Master Formula, Bulk Density and any special instructions.
  • Using the current production schedule, multiple mix sheets should be prepared for each line and finalized in a timely manner with no waste.
  • The foresight to recycle all fix mixes with final production.
  • Consistently check the lines every ½ hour to identify any problems that may arise with current Q.C equipment
  • The ability to follow the calibration schedule determined through ISO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Lab Experience with Quality Control

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree
  • Knowledge of powder paints, pigments or a history in color matching
