Job Description

• Assumes all responsibilities of Laboratory Associate
• Is proficient and trained on all lab processes carried out by assigned shift
• Oversees and prioritizes daily activities of assigned shift’s work load
• Identifies areas for improvement in efficiency, turnaround time, and cost-savings
• Leads training of staff on new laboratory processes, equipment, or policies
• Ensures lab operations align with current work instructions and conform to ISO standard
• Monitors key performance indicators to proactively ensure excellence of the operations, especially for Sequencing quality and turnaround time
• Assists with recruitment, motivation, development, and retention of excellent laboratory staff
• Schedules staff as needed for assigned shift
• Supports open, clear communication between shifts and to management by completing daily shift transfer email
• Works closely with Tech Support and Customer Service to resolve customer concerns
• Actively participates in weekly leadership and quality meetings with Management
• Assists with development projects by completing assigned tasks on time
• Increases knowledge of instrumentation validation, troubleshooting, repairs, and programming
• Is prepared to work overtime on any shift or weekends if requested
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate would possess:

• Supervisory experience
• Experience with Sanger DNA Sequencing and ABI instrumentation
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Attention to detail and work with accuracy while under pressure

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• 4-year degree or higher in life science field
• Minimum 1 year laboratory experience
• Must be willing to work in Louisville, KY
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
