Description
Vistra is seeking an experienced Senior Business Consultant to support a strategic communications contract with the U.S. Coast Guard. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in business consulting, strategic communications, and government contracting to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance the Coast Guard’s communication strategies and initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of the U.S. Coast Guard’s mission, a strong ability to analyze and advise on complex issues, and the capability to lead and manage projects that align with the organization’s strategic objectives. This is a hybrid job working in the Alexandria, VA area.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Advisory: Provide expert advice on strategic communications initiatives, aligning them with the U.S. Coast Guard’s mission and objectives.
- Program Management: Lead the planning, execution, and management of strategic communication projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders within the U.S. Coast Guard to understand their needs, gather requirements, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze data related to communication strategies, measure effectiveness, and provide actionable insights to improve outcomes.
- Change Management: Advise on and support the implementation of change management strategies to improve communication processes and outcomes.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project success and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior consultants and team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Compliance: Ensure all strategic communications initiatives comply with relevant U.S. Coast Guard regulations and federal guidelines.
- Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong, positive relationships with U.S. Coast Guard leadership and other stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact for strategic communications consulting.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in business consulting, with a focus on strategic communications and government contracting.
- Proven experience working with U.S. government agencies, preferably within the Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Coast Guard.
- Strong understanding of strategic communications, including media relations, public affairs, and internal communications.
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with federal regulations and compliance requirements related to strategic communications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), or similar.
- Experience with digital communication tools and platforms.
- Knowledge of the U.S. Coast Guard’s mission, structure, and operations.
Work Environment:
This position will be based in Alexandria, VA, with potential travel to various U.S. Coast Guard locations as required. The role may involve working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where quick decision-making and adaptability are essential.
