About the role

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain an FEL-3 execution plan

  • Lead development of the FEL-3 bid package(s), including:

    • Contractor scopes of work

    • Bid instructions and schedules

    • Commercial and administrative requirements

  • Coordinate inputs from engineering, operations, maintenance, EHS, quality, and procurement

  • Facilitate bidder communications, including site visits and Q&A

  • Coordinate bid evaluations and comparisons

  • Prepare bid evaluation summaries and award recommendations for EPM approval

  • Develop and maintain:

    • 10% cost estimate suitable for AR approval

    • Project schedule

    • Project risk register with mitigation strategies

  • Support and coordinate completion of the detailed engineering package required for construction readiness

  • Develop and maintain the integrated project execution plan

  • Manage contractor and vendor performance against approved contracts

  • Lead project coordination and progress meetings

  • Track and report:

    • Schedule performance

    • Cost performance and forecasts against the approved project budget

    • Change orders and claims

  • Maintain and update the project risk register

  • Coordinate site activities, outages, and construction sequencing

  • Initiate and manage construction activities following approval of the detailed engineering package

  • Support commissioning and startup planning

  • Ensure adherence to client’s safety, quality, and site requirements

  • Coordination of punch list completion

  • Verification of final deliverables and documentation

  • Support turnover to operations and maintenance

  • Final cost reconciliation and reporting

  • Contract closeout coordination

  • Facilitation of lessons learned documentation

  • Weekly written project status reports

  • Bi-weekly project review meetings with the EPM

  • Monthly executive summary reporting

  • Immediate escalation of critical safety, cost, or schedule risks

  • The PM shall follow site’s change management process

  • Any forecasted cost or schedule variance exceeding ±2% or 1 week shall be escalated to the EPM within one business day

  • All changes shall be documented and recommended for approval prior to implementation

Ideal Background

Education:  Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.  

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.  

Experience: This position requires up to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

  • Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures.

  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

  • Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management.

  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.

  • Ability to delegate authority appropriately.

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.

  • Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
