About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Research and Development team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CI/CD platform engineering, monitoring and alerting, security improvement, infrastructure management, and database administration. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of DevOps best practices to enhance system reliability, scalability, and security.

This position will give preference to applicants in St. George, Utah.

What you'll do

CI/CD Platform Engineering:

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient application deployment.

Monitoring and Alerting:

• Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Prometheus and Grafana.
• Set up alerting mechanisms to proactively detect and resolve system issues.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize system reliability.

Infrastructure Management:

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure on AWS.
• Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization to ensure cost efficiency.
• Manage authentication and authorization using Keycloak.

Database Administration:

• Perform database administrative tasks for Redshift and MongoDB.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries.
• Ensure data integrity and availability through backup and recovery strategies.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and networking.
• Strong expertise in CI/CD tools and automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience in managing and optimizing Redshift and MongoDB databases.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker.
• Familiarity with GitHub for source code management and workflow automation.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.

Technical Skills:

• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with authentication and authorization management using Keycloak.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm for container orchestration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification.
• Docker Certified Associate (DCA) certification.
• Experience in implementing and managing DevSecOps practices.
