Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. Our clients represent  Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

As an Sr DevOps & Environments Engineer, you will be a member of the DevOps/Environments and Compliance team responsible for the support and resolutions of all DevOps & Environment and Compliance Vulnerabilities within Global Functions Technology Risk IT organization, working with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Application teams in a timely manner. Looking for new ways to automate and develop new processes where needed. You will Lead by example the teams Jr staff on procedures and processes. This role will require you to be located in the Halifax, NC region and be able to commute to the office Hybrid.

What will you do?

• Work as an important and inclusive member of DevOps/Environments & Compliance team.

• Work in a closely-knit team consisting of core members such as Team Lead, DevOps Engineers, Environment Analysts, and Compliance Analysts

• Develop automation and infrastructure as code to improve operational consistency and efficiency.

• Install and Troubleshoot DevOps and Environments Application Components.

• Provision or Decommission servers and all its Infrastructure and DevOps components.

• Debug and solve customer escalations from our internal Support team.

• Contribute features that make the platform more self-service; improve diagnostics collection and reporting capabilities for the product.

• Support implementation of DevOps practices and tools and review / write code in either Python, Java, or shell scripting to support business needs and requirements.

• Create and documentation code snippets for different languages that being supported by DevOps pipeline to help developers interacting and integrating with the pipeline.

• Learn new programing languages and technologies to help Risk IT developers and team members solve issues.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have;

• 3+ years of application development and support experience.

• Experience using DevOps technologies such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, UCD, Jira, Confluence

• Experience using Environments technologies such as Windows 2019, Red Hat v7-9.

• Must be proficient in working in Excel and be able to translate data for readable PowerPoint reports for upper management.

• Experience writing scripts to automate operational tasks (e.g., Shell, Ansible, Python).

• Excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn and enjoys working in a team environment and must have Pro-Active thinking.

​Nice-to-have;

• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Experience with AI-Assisted Chat platforms. (OpenAI, ChatGPT, etc.)

• Working with Scheduler Tools (Stonebranch, Autosys)

• Experience with middleware technologies such as MQ, REST API’s, Tomcat, Jboss

• Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift Container Platform

• Proficient in working in Excel and be able to translate data for readable PowerPoint reports for upper management.

• Experience using Environments technologies such as Hadoop/Spark, Virtual Servers, SQL, Oracle, DB2, Storage SAN/NAS, Jira, Confluence
