The Executive Director, under general direction, provides leadership for departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations for Campus Planning & Space Management. Provides oversight of business activities, strategic planning and development, and program administration. Functions as departmental liaison to customers and represents the University on various committees.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the contract administrator for outsources facilities services contracts, ensuring that all contract deliverables are met and renovation projects are fulfilled on time and within budget.
Evaluates the condition of all University building and facilities to ensure compliance with health, life and safety building codes. Provides direct oversight of departmental deadlines, day-to-day operations and departmental audits.
Develops and implements campus and utilities masterplan. Serves on various State, local and System-wide committees.
Ensures facility and space needs are being met and accurately reported. Assures compliance with regulatory inspection and regulatory reporting requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree.
Ten years of related experience in management.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of accessibility issues and planning mechanisms specific to the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Universal Design.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work individually or as a team.
Ability to organize and make decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Science or related field.
Experience with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board space reporting.
Experience of State of Texas higher education processes related to facilities and space management.
Experience in working with outsourced facilities services contractors.
Knowledge of State of Texas procurement methods.
