Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent in this position shall be responsible for multiple environmental health programs in Hendry and Glades Counties. This position requires technical knowledge within all assigned environmental health programs. The incumbent must be able to exercise discretion and make professional judgments within all assigned environmental health programs. Primary responsibilities include monitoring and conducting routine inspections of migrant labor housing facilities. Other responsibilities monitoring and conducting routine inspections of mobile home, lodging, recreational vehicle parks, recreational camps, public swimming pools, preparing reports, legal notices and other documents. Position functions independently and under the direction of the Environmental Supervisor I. This position is headquartered at the Florida Department of Health in Hendry County, Division of Environmental Health, and reports directly to the Environmental Supervisor I. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for migrant labor housing facilities. Perform routine compliance inspections on migrant labor housing facilities in according to Chapter 64E-14.
Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by fax, email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for review. Inform owner/management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement the rules of Chapter 64E-8 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.
Reviews and recommends action on license applications for public swimming pools. Perform routine compliance inspections on public swimming pools according to Chapter 64E-9. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by fax, email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for review.
Inform owner/management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement the rules of Chapter 64E-9 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.

Perform routine compliance inspections on mobile home, lodging, recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps according to Chapter 64E-15. Completes inspection forms accurately and completely. Submit copy of inspection to owner/management company either in person, by fax, email, or regular USPS mail. Submit inspection report to supervisor for
review. Inform owner/management company of violations noted during inspection. Perform re-inspections as needed, following stated time frame. Implement the rules of Chapter 64E-15 to bring each facility into compliance. Keep supervisor informed of all progress.Conduct required maintenance on equipment and assigned vehicle, as needed.
Participate in in-service training programs as required and within time specified. Remain aware of Security Policy protocols.
Perform as assigned any other duties within the scope of environmental health as directed by the supervisor. Enter Daily Activity Records on a daily basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including disaster preparedness assignments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic computer skills, the Environmental Health Database Program and Environmental
Health Database Mobile App
• Knowledge of field equipment required, including but not limited to digital camera, and other
equipment as deemed necessary to perform facility inspections
• Incumbent will be assigned a county vehicle and will be responsible for maintaining and
operating the vehicle per state and county regulations
• Knowledge of environmental principles, practices, & procedures
• Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation & grammar usage
• Skill in using basic water testing equipment and procedures
• Skill in using GPS Unit
• Ability to operate general office equipment.
