About the role

  • Take ownership of territory for the Commercial Package book of business which can include marketing for Chubb’s Multinational P&C product as well as coordination of coverage with our Commercial Insurance colleagues
  • Work independently  to analyze risk, rate, quote and bind coverage
  • Comply with Best Underwriting Practices and Legal standards when underwriting/quoting accounts
  • Maintain proper electronic file documentation per current procedures
  • Handle account portfolio within underwriting authority
  • Achieve rate and renewal retention according to business goals.
  • Identify and pursue account growth through review of insured’s website and application data.  
  • Integrate special projects and tasks without impacting ability to complete existing workloads.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key brokers/agents within assigned territory.
  • Works effectively as part of a team

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-5 years underwriting experience
  • Experience underwriting multiple lines of insurance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of insurance industry (Chubb Commercial Products and Services a plus)
  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to work independently, self-manage, organize and prioritize work with minimal direction; perform multiple tasks simultaneously, shifting focus quickly
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Marketing skills
  • Previous work with Brokers/agents is preferred
  • Ability to travel 10-15%
  • Basic leadership skills

Qualified candidates must possess a strong understanding of Property and Casualty insurance concepts and products, as evidenced by successful experience in the Property and Casualty insurance arena; analytical ability to be capable of judging the feasibility of underwriting risks within assigned areas, ability to function in a department which develops several million dollars in premium annually through handling a large volume of small to mid-size premium accounts, and ability to meet or succeed transaction time standards set by the team manager by adhering to sound time management practices.   International insurance experience is preferred.
