The PhD in Nursing Science Program at the MUSC College of Nursing is seeking an adjunct instructor with a PhD for an online doctoral-level course. Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent research doctoral degree in nursing, health sciences, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or mentoring at the doctoral level.
- Strong foundation in nursing science, research methodology, or related content area.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L).
- Commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Understanding of PhD-level education and scholarly inquiry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Record of scholarly publications
- Expertise in areas such as philosophy of science, qualitative or mixed methods research, theory, or implementation science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Course Instruction: Deliver an assigned online PhD-level course aligned with program and curricular objectives.
- Student Engagement: Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous discussions, respond to student inquiries in a timely manner, and promote intellectual engagement.
- Assessment & Grading: Evaluate assignments, provide timely, constructive feedback, and submit grades in accordance with doctoral program standards and program policies.
- Course Management: Utilize the university’s Learning Management System (LMS) to maintain and post materials, track participation, and manage course logistics such as grading and attendance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with program leadership and faculty to ensure course quality, consistency, and student success across course sections.
- Office Hours: Offer virtual office hours or scheduled student consultations as needed.
- Academic Integrity: Uphold university policies related to academic integrity, accessibility, and student support.
