The Regional Procurement Lead manages global procurement strategies and processes in collaboration with local functional teams within the Consumer Products Division for certain key global raw materials, supplies, and indirect costs to help achieve the Company’s goals and objectives in relation to budget, costs, volume, sustainability, quality, and service.
The role owner works under the general direction of Global Procurement and the Fresh Food teams, providing high level of responsiveness of the strategic procurement needs (support growth, identify new innovative materials/supply partners, risk mitigation and business continuity strategies, margin expansion, etc.) and brings value (drives profitability, supports sustainability and growth strategies and targets, protects free cash flow, etc.) to the segments and/or geographies as assigned.
Relevant competences include subject matter expertise for certain categories and materials used in the manufacturing industry, strategic sourcing experience, negotiation, project management skills, problem solving, knowledge of commodity management and trends, strong analytical skills, teamwork and service attitude, ability to lead and support multi-functional teams, strategic thinking, effective communication, and ability to execute.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide best-in-class service by being a procurement partner to the business, understanding its needs, and interfacing with key internal customers. Interface is responsible to align procurement strategies with the business goals and in accordance with guidance provided by Global Procurement and Fresh Food BU Leadership;
- Lead the sourcing and procurement process for assigned (global, regional, or BU specific) strategic categories (such as absorbing pads and resins);
- Align the operation of procurement processes in synergy and coordination with the global and local functional teams (supply chain, operations, R&, finance, etc.), to ensure compliance with the established goals;
- Obtain understanding of each locations’ needs for assigned category spend and integrate subject matter expertise, business/market intelligence, leverage of purchasing power to bring optimal value to the organization;
- Lead RFXs ( RFP’s, RFIs, RFQ’s, reverse auctions, etc.) and negotiations as appropriate;
- Keep a finger on the pulse of emerging packaging sustainability trends, and support projects and growth through identification and sourcing of sustainable materials;
- Recommend and implement best practices in industry to foster continuous improvement and efficiencies;
- Execute complex data analysis and modelling techniques for strategic decision making including macro-economic drivers, regional commodity trends, FX, seasonality, upstream feedstock market, statistical data, probability, etc.
- Review, comment and negotiate supplier contracts for compliance with financial and legal requirements with Tekni-Plex’s legal team in a timely manner and provide input into commercial contracts to ensure alignment and optimization across the supply chain;
- Work and support efforts with the facilities to comply with federal, state and local legal regulations and Tekni-Plex’s procurement policies;
- Provide strategic support to assist in solving supply related issues;
- Identify strategic best-in-class partners and manage the strategic relationships, from a commercial perspective, for those suppliers assigned as relationship manager;
- Maintain a high-level understanding of managed strategic commodities/categories via research of market intelligence, industry and price trends, cost drivers, fundamental risk elements, the technology trends and barriers to entry by new competitors, etc., and communicate across functional teams;
- Perform risk assessment and maintain a risk matrix for materials and processes, and work in collaboration with functional teams on implementing improvements and solutions;
- Develop a cooperative, supportive and committed work culture within the team and between the team and other procurement groups;
- Assists in preparation of procurement policies and procedures for the global procurement department;
- Confer with customers as deemed required to provide market Intel and support to commercial strategies according to their needs;
- Develop and track metrics, including both internal and external benchmarks, to monitor performance and allow for data-driven decision making;
- Actively participate in global and local committees (R&D, supply chain, etc.) as deemed applicable;
- Assist on projects and perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
