IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Survey Field Technician in our Gurnee IL Office. As a Survey Field Technician you will be responsible for assisting Crew Chiefs, Senior Crew Chiefs, or Land Surveyors in acquiring survey field data through the use of principles, methods, and techniques for assigned land surveying field projects. The Technician will provide survey assistance under leadership from a Crew Chief, Senior Crew Chief, or Office Coordinator.
Principal Responsibilities:
Performs day-to-day operations to collect field data for all land surveys, including but not limited to boundaries, topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts
Operates, maintains, and handles survey equipment, data collection, and other geodetic and reality capture equipment
Sets points on construction stakeout projects
Fundamental ability to perform quality checks using the survey equipment assigned.

Operate a company vehicle
Observe safety and security procedures
Required Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret operating procedures, safety documents, and maintenance instructions
Ability to read surveys and engineering drawings
Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods
Problem-solving techniques
Ability to work independently as well as proactively collaborate as part of a team
Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
Ability to professionally represent IMEG
Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
Education & Experience:
Associates degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying or Engineering preferred
Prior experience in the land surveying or consulting or construction industry preferred
Physical Requirements:
All weather year-round outdoor work environments with seasonal conditions, including extreme heat index and wind-chill/low temperatures
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 50 pounds
Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
Will have exposure to loud noises
