Under general supervision of the Health and Fitness (HFC) Facilities Coordinator, the pool supervisor oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of the college’s aquatic facility. Ensures that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained. Oversee the hiring, scheduling, training, testing, and certification of lifeguards and student workers of the facility. This position will serve as a back-up for the facilities when the coordinator is out.Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervision: Coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of the facility; supervises the day-to-day activities of the lifeguards and student workers. Schedule employees to ensure proper and safe coverage during open hours.
Certification│Training: Provide in service training for employees on new water safety techniques, water quality and operational requirements. Participates in and teaches aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary
Safety & Compliance: Ensure that inspections related to pool and other facilities meet EID and OSHA standards. Prepares statistical reports on a monthly basis and prepares data and narrative for inclusion in annual reports.
Maintenance: Oversees the maintenance of the pools and hot tubs, to include chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and related maintenance according to EPA standards. Ensures that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards are maintained; ensures pools and hot tubs are compliant with all local, state and national requirements and current on all necessary certifications required for operation. Maintain equipment or schedule for maintenance and repair.
Administrative: Develops and maintains records of operational facility usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies. Ensure certifications are maintained. Maintain records of water quality and water temperature. Assist as needed in the management of the Health and Fitness center.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
SCHEDULE DETAILS:
Must be available to work a flexible 40 – hour week both days and evenings, on-call, weekends and holidays.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate in oral and written forms.
Knowledge of pool safety and maintenance requirements.
Must hold CPR/First Aid certification.
Must hold a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree and/or 2 years’ experience in pool management is preferred.
Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) training recommended.
