What You’ll Do

The Systems Architect Lab (SAL) is developing innovative technology focusing on addressing two of the key challenges facing today’s AI and HPC applications, namely memory and communication bandwidth.  Using Samsung’s world leading memory technology, we will be looking at how we can design systems with significantly improved byte to flop ratios allowing improved application performance and developer productivity. We will also be looking at innovative technology for improving communication bandwidth.  Most importantly, we will be looking at both from a system perspective. The effort will be across hardware including memory, networking, power, and RAS; software, including system software, frameworks, and runtimes; and application and performance modeling.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose office/headquarters 3 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time OR Fully Remote, with the opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States with the ability to travel domestic or internationally when required. #LIRemote 

• Explore, design, and innovate in direction for designing AI and HPC machines
• Provide technical leadership and drive technical direction for components of the HPC system
• Be able to interact with architects to create designs for system software components and ability to efficiently implement those components
• Participate in cross-site, cross-function team collaborations
• Be able to conduct experiments to allow the analysis of performance implications of architectural design decisions
• Be able to effective in technically interacting with architects as well as other engineers
• Be able to travel domestic or internationally when required

What You Bring

• PhD in Computer Science with at least 8-10 years of experience, MS in Computer Science with 10-13 years or BS in Computer Science with 13-15 years, 5+ years of relevant experience on scalable HPC Systems.
• Experience designing and coding system software (operating system, runtimes, messaging, frameworks, etc.) for HPC and AI machines
• Hands-on experience lead and HPC architecture co-design effort
• Strong verbal and written skills for communication and documentation of technical information
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team lead, and as part of a local and distributed team

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

 

Base Pay Range$132,800—$270,000 USD
