Corporate Counsel / Senior Corporate Counsel - Development & Engineering

Location: Telecommuting/remote from within the US

The Development and Engineering Legal Team within Oracle's legal department is responsible for providing legal support for all of Oracle’s cloud, software development, and hardware engineering organizations worldwide. The team works closely with Oracle Development executives, product teams and key corporate stakeholders to complete agreements between Oracle and its strategic software suppliers and to evaluate and provide legal advice with respect to inbound software licensing, cloud infrastructure, open source, AI/ML, etc. The team coordinates the efforts of various internal organizations to ensure that Oracle’s inbound software licenses and product development activities comply with company policies, and takes a leadership role in defining policies, practices, and procedures within the company.

As an individual contributor in the team, you will join a collaborative group of attorneys with an interesting and diverse technology law practice. This position requires a significant IP and inbound licensing background in connection with the support of product development teams. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting and negotiating a variety of inbound technology transactions (inbound software, SaaS, API, data, co-development, etc.) and the ability to handle a variety of tasks, evaluate alternatives quickly, and provide top quality legal assistance and support to executive-level clients in a fast-paced environment. Someone who can quickly make a significant contribution to the group is critical.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Relevant legal experience working in-house as product counsel at a technology company. Ideal is at least 8 years; will consider 4+. 
  • Experience as the lead negotiator of complex inbound agreements in the areas of software licensing, SaaS, cloud, and content/data licensing. 
  • Significant experience providing legal advice to product development teams on IP issues and other legal issues relevant to product development activities. 
  • Strongly prefer experience with Open Source licensing and AI/ML.
  • Bar certified, in good standing, in a state in the US.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $109,200 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
