Job Summary:

The Instruction and Curriculum Lead provides strategic oversight and coordination of instructional delivery and curriculum development for Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) programs, including both face-to-face and remote learning environments. In collaboration with the AEL Director and in accordance with Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) guidelines, this role offers specialized and technical support to the curriculum review process to ensure instructional quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with AEL grant requirements, educational standards, and college policies.

*This is a 100% grant-funded position. Therefore, the continuation of the position is subject to continued external funding.**

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Oversight of AEL Instructors

  • Effectively lead and coordinate program curriculum and instruction, inclusive of face-to-face and remote learning.
  • Guide overall service delivery to ensure consistency across all AEL modalities and program areas.
  • Maintain accurate curricular documentation and make curricular information accessible to AEL faculty, staff, and students, as well as external agencies.
  • Collaborate across college departments and with external agencies to resolve instructional or service delivery issues.
  • Assist the Director of Adult Education and Literacy with the hiring of new AEL Instructional Staff.
  • Develop and manage course schedules, ensuring appropriate instructional staff are assigned to each course based on expertise and availability.

Curriculum Development for AEL Programs

  • Develop specialized curriculum for career pathway models, ensuring alignment with the current and future Texas AEL Content Standards and career pathways guidance.
  • Review curriculum descriptions and documents for accuracy and compliance with college policies, regulatory codes, and accreditation standards.
  • Enter approved curriculum-related documentation into internal and/or external databases to support transparency and tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with the college’s curriculum coordinator or specialist to produce and maintain reports, lists, and databases related to curriculum and assessment.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the college catalog. Confer with academic professionals to maintain program descriptions and degree requirements in the college catalog, web pages, and intranet sites.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance through periodic review of all curricular information in both internal and public information systems, consistent with curricular approvals by external agencies.
  • Serve in curriculum-related committees as assigned, contributing to institution-wide academic and curricular initiatives.

 Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in higher education.
