Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be committed to the vision and mission of Community Progress Council and Early Head Start/Head Start of York County.
  • Coordinate the operation of all Head Start kitchens and staff. Ensure adequate daily staffing for all locations.
  • Train cooks, substitute cooks and SCSEP participants.
  • Conduct on-site monitoring according to CACFP specifications.
  • Assists in preparation of the nutrition budget. Reviews the monthly expenses for CACFP program and meets with the Fiscal Director and Head Start of York County Director to assess budget.
  • Assists in the annual Self-Assessment Process in evaluating the nutrition program according to stated regulations.
  • Conducts performance evaluation as necessary and at least once a year on all food service personnel and verifies accuracy of time/payroll records.
  • Collaborate and establish partnerships with Community Nutrition Agencies to find common solutions to the community nutrition needs.
  • Directs implementation of health and sanitation regulations in relation to the food service sector of nutrition program.
  • Conducts and monitors on-site inspections of food preparation sites.
  • Recruits and coordinates volunteers in the nutrition component.
  • Attends staff and parent meetings and training sessions as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Nutrition; related work experience preferred, including supervisory experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises approximately 15 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
