Data Center Lab Technician L2

Milestone Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Lab Tech Tier 2 to join our dynamic team associated with the development of our client's products. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting installations, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers and devices within our lab environment. Your expertise will be pivotal in identifying and escalating opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness improvements within the client's infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide explanations for operational performance results, elucidating reasons for metrics/KPIs meeting, missing, or exceeding targets
• Offer input and suggestions for enhancing operational performance and efficiency in the local environment
• Screen for technical capabilities and team fit, recommend the hiring of long-term resources, and collaborate with the recruiting team during candidate interviews
• Assist in the onboarding and training of all new hires
• Ensure local execution of key deliverables and metrics
• Work within the client's ticketing system and adhere to SLAs to support the health of the client's server fleet
• Serve as the point of contact for IC4 tier 1 technicians
• Perform root cause analysis of complex technical issues and drive resolutions
• Manage hardware installation, rack and stack, cabling, rack integration, provisioning, and decommissioning
• Assist with projects (new capacity, retrofits) and repairs throughout the data center
• Understand and debug hardware and Linux and Windows OS-related issues using command-line tools and techniques
• Confirm successful deployment installation using a series of pre-defined scripts
• Deploy device/system configuration via Linux and Windows OS with a set of predefined steps
• Execute turn-up/turn-down processes with support from cross-functional teams
• Analyze data to diagnose systemic issues
• Work with internal hardware teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues, maintain high hardware quality levels, and influence future designs for ease of serviceability
• Identify and help create documentation for the global data center knowledge base
• Assist with process improvements and best practices in data center operations
• Participate in an on-call rotation (once a month on-call for a week after hours, first point of contact)
• Maintain an efficient, orderly hardware test lab operation within the production/non-production data center
• Assist in the development of global standards for processes, workflow, and automation roadmaps for tools that facilitate deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of server hardware at scale
• Lead process improvements and best practices in data center operations
• Provide cross-functional communication with other technical operations groups
• Perform other tasks as required to support IT service on a local basis
• Act on other duties as assigned by management
• Provide support to multiple locations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, IT Degree, or equivalent experience
• 7+ Years of extensive knowledge of Linux
