This is a professional career service position that will serve as the Regional Readiness Coordinator (RRC) for the Preparedness Region 7, that includes, Polk, Hardee, Desoto, Highlands and Okeechobee Counties. The RRC is a subject matter expert that will be responsible for regional health and medical preparedness and response planning.
This involves collaborative work with local planners, response agencies, and the region's health care coalitions to develop regional public health emergency plans, identify and bolster regional readiness capabilities and resources, and close associated gaps. Assists local planners with the development of their CHD preparedness and response trainings, exercises, plans and deliverables. Assists the Bureau of Preparedness and response (BPR) as requestes with local and regional readiness and assists State ESF-8 with response efforts, including but not limited to after-hours and out-of-county region deployments.
Readiness Capacity Building and Preparedenss Coordination:
Capability Assessment: Conduct an annual gap analysis to determine the capability and capacity of the region as a whole to respond to identified hazards for the purpose of proposing corrective strategies to the county health officers.
- Conduct a review of local emergency operations plans to ensure consistency and that plans are not in conflict with each other.
Technical Assistance/Capacity Building: Develop and implement regional strategies as approved by health officers that support the local county health departments in building preparedness capacity and closing gaps in the region. Conduct regional coordinaiton efforts and outreach activities as tehy pertain to preparedness and response planning functions. Activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as an advisor/liaision to region Health Officers and preparedness planners/trainers, and other state and local emergency management/response and recovery organizaitons.
- Assist local and CRI preparedness planners with the devlopment, review, and revision of DOH and CHD emergency management plans.
- Convene monthly calls with local CRI planners to provide technical assistance.
- Promote participation in new planner orientations with BPR.
- Works with BPR in shceudling the Expect Preparedness quarterly tehcnical assictance meetings.
Training/Exercises: Support the development, delivery and coordination of training materials, training sessions, and exercises for public health preparedness programs as needed or requested by a CHD or the region. Activities may include but are not limited to:
- Develop the regional integrated preparedness plan as required by BPR for th preparedness cooperative agreements and with assitance from local/CRI planners.
- Participate in trainings and exercises to keep informed of current preparedness issues, concerns, and remedies.
- Participate on the Training and Exercise Review Group to review and approve preparedness trainings and exercises as requested by BPR.
Coordination: Enhance and support coordination between CHDs, local Emergency Management, Health Care Coalitions, and other preparedness partners within the region.
- Meet with local planners and health officers at least quartelry to ensure coordination of readiness efforts, address planning and response concerns and share best practices throughout the region.
- Participate in local or regional preparedness and emergcency management intiatives.
- Partcipate in Regional Domestic Security Task Force meetings and Domestic Security Focus Group Meetings as DOH regional representative.
- Participate in Health Care Coalition meetings/conferences.
- Serves as a conduit for BPR when information is needed from planners.
- Work with emergency managers and local planners to map out locations that can be used for State ESF-8 staging areas.
