We are hiring an Audit Field Compliance Assistant Manager-Sales Tax (Senior Public Service Administrator opt. 2A) for the Field Compliance Sales and Miscellaneous Tax Section within the Audit Bureau located in Des Plaines, IL. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing sales and miscellaneous tax auditing activities, maintaining and implementing policies and procedures, and serving as full-line supervisor for sales and miscellaneous field tax staff. Essential Functions

  • Subject to management approval, serves as the Audit Field Compliance Assistant Manager for Sales and Miscellaneous Tax.
  • Provides advice and assistance to subordinate staff in resolving highly controversial and complex cases within the framework of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Reviews and analyzes statistical reports of results or activities of staff performing Sales & Miscellaneous Tax audits to assess and evaluate operational efficiency, adherence to IDOR rules and regulations, and to ensure uniform application of applicable tax laws and IDOR policies and procedures.
  • Serves as full line supervisor.
  • Conducts conferences with taxpayers, accountants, attorneys, officials, and others to explain findings in the more controversial or sensitive issues.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements operating policies, procedures, work and performance standards.
  • Participates in upper-level management staff meetings regarding operating policies, procedures and staffing requirements and/or provides input into program and policy development.
  • Coordinates assigned geographical area activities with other areas of IDOR to ensure proper flow of work assignments.
