Systems Engineer – Managed Security Services

Join GDIT as a Systems Engineer where innovation meets mission-critical infrastructure. We are seeking a forward-thinking engineer with a passion for network visibility, secure access, and cloud-edge integration. In this role, you’ll leverage tools like F5, Palo Alto Prisma Access, GlobalAccess, Gigamon, and Tenable One to enhance availability, scalability, and protection of systems supporting national objectives.

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER (SENIOR) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Deploy and administer Palo Alto Prisma Access and GlobalAccess to provide secure user access across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Support the integration of Splunk SOAR with security tools, including SIEM (Splunk), EDRs (e.g., CrowdStrike), and ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Configure and manage F5 application delivery controllers (ADCs) to optimize network traffic, ensure uptime, and safeguard enterprise services.
  • Integrate Gigamon visibility solutions to enable deep packet inspection, flow mapping, and toolchain optimization.
  • Utilize Tenable One for vulnerability detection and prioritization across cloud workloads and enterprise systems.
  • Support the transition of traditional workloads to cloud and SASE-enabled infrastructure with a focus on secure architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enforce system security controls aligned with NIST and FedRAMP frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide Tier III escalation support for infrastructure-related incidents.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.

● Required Experience: 2+ years of experience supporting complex IT infrastructure with a security-first mindset.

● Desired Tools Proficiency: F5, Splunk ES/Cloud, Palo Alto Prisma Access, GlobalAccess (GlobalProtect), Gigamon, Tenable One.

● Experience with secure remote access, cloud migration, load balancing, and traffic visibility platforms preferred.

● Desired Certifications: Splunk certifications, F5 Certified Administrator, Palo Alto Networks PCNSE, Tenable Certified, or equivalent.

● Clearance: None.  The selected candidate will be subject to a security investigation.

The likely salary range for this position is $108,800 - $147,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
