Job Description Qualifications:

The Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) Division within Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity and immediate need for Electrical Power Systems Design Engineers to support the United States Air Force (USAF) E-7 or the P-8 Program in Tukwila, WA.  As a member of the Electrical Power Engineering team you will be working in a highly dynamic team environment developing electrical power design for both the Electrical Power Generation System (EPGS) and Secondary Power Distribution System (SPDS) supporting new development, production, modification kit development, and fleet issues.

This team is currently hiring for experienced and Senior level Electrical Power Systems Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for EPGS and SPDS components and software.

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system architecture, hardware designs and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Model the power generation, storage, and dissipation behavior of the Electrical Power Subsystem under various mission scenarios

  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements in the development and production of EPGS and SPDS components and software.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Troubleshoot EPGS and SPDS issues with oversight from senior engineers.

  • Authors and updates system documentation such as, Specification Control Drawings (SCDs), Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and System Definition Document (SDD).

  • Design and analyze aircraft functional schematics

  • Perform Electrical load analysis (ELA); compile and review certification documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant electrical systems related airworthiness requirements

  • Develops and maintains relationships with teammates, peers, and supplier counterparts.

  • Reports progress and elevates issues to manager as required.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years in support of electrical power systems (electrical system design, electrical system verification, troubleshooting and/or support of anomaly resolution)

  • 1+ years of experience writing/verifying Electrical Power requirements on commercial and/or military aircraft

  • 1+ years of experience with troubleshooting electrical systems.

  • Strong organization and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • Experience with electrical systems design.

  • Experience within Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA).

  • Familiarity with the 737 aircraft and systems.
