Role Summary:

 

Supports product development/maintenance activity, providing highly technical advice on language and regulatory issues. Responsible for language development, issue resolution, regulatory approval and implementation in connection with corporation's products. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Spends 50% of time managing special, more complex projects. May act as a technical resource, coach, trainer or mentor to team members. Usually negotiates or resolves complex issues with customers or matrix partners using independent judgment and discretion. Limited approval necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· In support of entry into the Voluntary Benefits market, support Voluntary product development, Voluntary contract system and workflow build, system testing and training.

· In support of all products, including Voluntary, FIPFML, Life, Accident and Disability Policies and ASO, PFL, PFML Agreements, assist in: training initiatives regarding products, system testing, development of contract language, processes to produce accurate insurance documents and drafting processes.

· Analyze, research and interpret written and verbal information to prepare administrable and legally defensible insurance documents and related materials which accurately reflect Policyholder requests, conform to company underwriting guidelines, preserve language uniformity (or stylistic consistency) and comply with applicable state and federal law.

· When not managing or contributing to projects, accountable for the production of high quality, accurate and compliant insurance documents and related materials.

· Solve problems or coordinate their resolution with appropriate business partners.

· Research, interpret and respond to inquiries from internal (EQP) and external customers regarding highly technical product and case specific issues.

· Ability to interpret source documents at all levels of complexity.

· Support New York Life’s compliance position through assistance with the implementation of legislative and regulatory developments which impact contract language and insurance documents.

· Act as company resource with respect to products and related forms by participating in company product development initiatives, charters, projects, special assignments, and committees.

 

Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience required.

· Possess astute knowledge of contract language for group benefits products required.

· Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required.

· Strong attention to detail required.

· Strong leadership and organizational skills.

· Capable of effectively and independently prioritizing multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines and department metrics required.

· Strong planning and project management skills preferred.

· Ability to use logic and identify alternative methods to solve difficult problems and provide effective solutions preferred.

· Excellent analytical skills that look beyond the obvious to find a resolution preferred.

· Typically has three to five years of compliance/regulatory experience or other relevant work experience.

Salary range: $65,000-$95,000
