Accounts Payable Supervisor

Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for training and supervising the accounts payable team. This includes but is not limited to providing first-line support, on-the-job coaching, and training to other users to ensure duties and responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Distributes and prioritizes daily activities within the accounts payable department 
• Manage, coach, and develop staff to ensure their commitment and ability to meet company objectives, deliver high quality services and quickly resolve inquiries.
• Ensures that all procedures are followed in accordance with company standards and SOX requirements
• Ensures invoices are processed on a timely basis 
• Evaluates practices and procedures and suggests and implements recommendations for operating efficiency improvements
• Provide analysis of actual results as compared to projected results and provide management with timely information to enable them to make better financial decisions.
• Lead and/or participate in projects as needed 
• Coordinate and manage all audits impacting Accounts Payables (internal or external) and provide required data to ensure audits run smoothly and efficiently.
• Prepare 1099s for distribution

Qualifications/Requirements

• Associates degree in accounting or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred 
• 5 years of accounting or accounts payable experience
• 2+ years of supervisory experience 
• Ability to coach, develop and lead others 
• Ability to think critically and troubleshoot issues when they arise
• Advanced MS office skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience working with a large scale ERP system; SAP experience preferred 
• Ability to effectively communicate, including written and oral, and develop effective working relationships across multiple levels of the organization
• Ability to work as a liaison between Accounts Payable Departments and the business to multi-task and prioritize workload 
• Continuous improvement mindset 
• Experience with high volume, multi company, multi-location environment, preferred
