Job Description Qualifications:

As a Systems Engineering Manager in the BGS Analytics and Digital Services (A&DS) organization you will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers responsible for developing and implementing systems engineering processes and tools for current and future development and production programs. These activities provide the technical foundation for digital sustainment and decision support for our internal and external customers. The position offers exposure to the entire development life cycle of our products with an emphasis on operations and support.

The systems engineering processes will focus on functional, logical, and operational architectures; requirements development and management; logistics and supply chain network, lifecycle cost and mission analyses. Frequent engagements with other program leaders and subject matter experts is expected and offers broad visibility to diverse programs across Boeing. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of our future government services programs.

This position will entail overseeing the team which develops our model-based sustainment simulation (MBSS) capability, which enables our customers to define and execute supportability trade studies based on the latest fleet performance data, experiment and test the results of anticipated events and choice of responses and make better informed decisions while fully supported with visibility to the options available to them. This capability employs an agile development methodology consistent with the Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and is adaptable to rapidly respond to customer needs.

The successful candidate will have experience leading and/or managing development teams. Background in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required: logistics support, modeling and simulation analysis (logistics, operations, cost), software development, integration and test, data science and simulation animation. The ideal candidate can simultaneously manage multiple program activities and work well with a team of highly skilled engineers. Great communication skills, and a willingness to develop future technical leaders is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering and Sustainment (Logistics, Operations, & Cost) modeling. 
  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) for modeling and simulation investment portfolio
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of teams and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics. 
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • 1+ years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • 3+ years of systems engineering experience
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team

Typical Education / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
