Sr. HR Specialist
Job Duties (Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position):
- Manage the full employee life cycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding processes.
- Oversee and administer employee benefit programs, leave policies, and compensation-related activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on complex, precedent-setting, and sensitive classification and staffing matters.
- Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of HR policies, federal regulations, and labor laws.
- Support compliance and audit readiness efforts by maintaining accurate and complete personnel records.
- Partner with leadership to identify and resolve workforce challenges, including employee relations and engagement.
- Develop and deliver training programs on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Lead or support initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and workplace culture.
- Conduct workforce planning and assist in succession planning strategies.
- Ensure adherence to applicable employment laws and regulations.
Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources or related discipline
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC)
- Experience handling sensitive employee relations and classification issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
- Secret Clearance
Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):
- Professional HR Certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP/SCP)
- Experience in a government contracting or federal HR environment
- Familiarity with USAJobs or other federal hiring systems
- Working knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements
- Experience with policy development and organizational change initiatives
