KNBC4 KVEA52 local television station is looking for a smart HR Generalist to join the local HR team. You will work implementing processes and programs that advance our goal of retention and growth of the company’s most important asset our people.

As the HR Generalist you will lead and carry out responsibilities in one or more of the functional areas, such as employee relations, training, benefits, and other employee support. Yes, there is administrative work with this role, but you will be part of an HR team that is interested in looking at HR with a fresh perspective, so bring your creativity and HR strategy and let’s see what we can build!

This role reports to the HR Director, and works closely with VP of HR, West Coast

Essential Responsibilities

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and escalate to Human Resources Director as needed
  • Ability to answer employee questions and or concerns regarding Human Resource policy, procedures, or employee handbook interpretations
  • Assists Department Heads, Managers and/or Supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching and other team concerns
  • Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Ensures HR Information and data systems is being maintained in a timely manner
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition for recruiting, interviewing, and screening employee candidates
  • Records data of all employee changes as needed within the required timeframe
  • Reports, maintains, and monitors all accommodation requests and workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, and support corporate initiatives
  • Operate ethically to protect the assets and image of the company
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as per business need

 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience, Media/news industry preferred
     

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Experience with HRIS and SAP highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  •  Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments
  •  Results oriented with ability to effectively manage projects and tight deadlines
  •  Understands the needs of timely recruitment strategies
  • Service oriented, collaborative approach with exceptional follow up and organization skills
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, presentation and listing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Sharepoint and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business demands
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment
  • Must be passionate, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to success

  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
