Senior Design Technologist, TIDAL

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Design Technologist to push the boundaries of motion, music visualization, and innovative interaction patterns within our products. You'll play a key part in shaping how experimentation and technology elevate the TIDAL experience.

Reporting directly to TIDAL's Head of Design, you'll collaborate closely with a global team of designers and engineers, making a direct impact on our iOS, Android, and desktop experiences. Your work will bridge design and technology, bringing ideas to life through prototyping, front-end development, and modern animation techniques.

This role is remote based in the US or Canada.

You Will

• Utilize your expertise in animation and front-end development to enhance product experiences.
• Explore and implement new ways to visualize music and bring motion to our products
• Prototype and develop innovative UI concepts
• Contribute high-quality, flexible code that is scalable, adaptable, and aligned with modern best practices.
• Work with design and engineering teams to integrate experimental interactions into real-world products.
• Work collaboratively across diverse teams, taking full ownership to deliver exceptional solutions in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a larger organization.

You Have

• 8+ years of experience in software development or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in a design engineering, design technology, or creative tooling role.
• Front-end development experience HTML, (S)CSS, JavaScript and experience working with modern frameworks, eg.: Vue.js, React, Nuxt.js, Express.js and Node.js as well as iOS and Android.
• Experience working with AI/ML APIs, LLMs, or AI-assisted workflows.
• Strong use of UI and product workflow tools (Figma, Notion, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
• A portfolio of work that displays exceptional motion, interactions, iconography, typography, color, and imagery.
• Skills to work on complex problems with any audience in verbal, visual, or written formats

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
