Enterprise Data Architect, Strategy and Transformation

Summary:
Prosperity is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect with deep Life and Annuity insurance expertise and advanced knowledge of Databricks and AWS to help lead the design and implementation of Prosperity’s next-generation data platform. This role will lead and manage a team of data engineers, data analyst comprising of internal resources and contractors; and play a key role in architecting scalable data pipelines, enterprise data models, and AI/ML-ready environments to support analytics, operations, actuarial modeling, and digital initiatives.

This role is both technical and strategic – you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing technology strategy, platform investments, and innovation across the data value chain.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Platform Design
• Define and evolve the enterprise data architecture, including canonical models for policy, claims, billing, customer, agent, and financial domains
• Lead the design and development of modern, cloud-native data platforms using Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda)
• Architect scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and publishing of structured and unstructured insurance data
Domain Expertise – Life & Annuity
• Bring deep understanding of Life and Annuity products, policy administration systems, actuarial processes, and financial reporting
• Partner with actuaries, underwriters, and finance teams to enable modeling, valuation, reserve calculation, and experience studies
• Ensure data solutions reflect regulatory compliance and accuracy for GAAP, Statutory, and IFRS reporting
Strategic Leadership
• Collaborate with senior executives and business leaders to align data architecture with strategic priorities
• Influence platform investment decisions and guide architectural direction to support acquisitions, digital engagement, and data monetization
• Support enterprise initiatives including core system modernization, data governance, and AI/ML enablement
Governance & Standards
• Define and implement data architecture standards, metadata management, and lineage practices
• Contribute to data quality frameworks, MDM, data catalogs, and enterprise business glossaries
• Ensure solutions comply with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR)
Collaboration & Mentorship
• Partner with data engineers, BI analysts, software developers, and architects to deliver end-to-end data solutions
• Mentor junior data architects and contribute to the development of an agile, data-first engineering culture

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Actuarial Science, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 3+ years in the Life and Annuity insurance industry
• Working experience in leading, managing, mentoring teams and delivering scalable enterprise-wide data and analytics platform
• Hands-on experience designing data platforms using Databricks and AWS (including Spark, Delta Lake, S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR)
• Strong command of data modeling techniques (dimensional, normalized, vault), data lakes, and analytical marts
• Familiarity with insurance systems such as LifePro, ALIP, OIPA, iSeries, or equivalent
Preferred:
• Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Databricks Certified Data Engineer)
• Experience supporting actuarial workflows (e.g., valuation, pricing, experience studies)
• Knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation), and lineage frameworks
• Exposure to AI/ML, predictive modeling, and real-time analytics frameworks
• Familiarity with ACORD standards/specifications is a strong plus
