Huntsman is seeking a Construction Technical Service Engineer supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in HATC, Texas. This position will report to the PU Team Leader.
Job Scope
This is an advanced position on the Huntsman Polyurethanes Technical Service Ladder, which supports the Polyurethanes Americas Construction Business to achieve the profitability goals. Incumbents help the Americas Regional Insulation Team to deploy new technology or products designed for specific insulation applications such as Insulated Metal Panels, PolyIso Boards, Entry Doors, Water Heaters, and Commercial Refrigeration. Incumbents assist the Business achieve these goals through field trials, customer technical service support, laboratory experimentation, new product/application development and other activities.
Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Must treat safety as top priority both in the lab and in the field, ensuring activity follows safe work practices for personal safety, equipment, and other team members, is trained on and complies with all relevant EHS policies and maintains a safe work environment through proactive housekeeping. Safety must also be demonstrated in the field, which may involve unfamiliar surroundings.
- Provide Technical Service/Support to customers by building strong relationships with our strategic customer contacts, prompt resolution of problems related to the use of our technology, providing necessary processing documentation for our products, differentiation of Huntsman Polyurethanes as a supplier to the supported industry, and delivery of business sales and profitability goals. Primarily support customers in both the US and Canada.
- Incumbents are fully responsible for laboratory projects, receiving only general direction from Technical Supervision/Management. At this level, some work programs are generally of a highly advanced, complex, and long-range nature, requiring sophisticated and innovative technical approaches, and often involving non-routine solutions.
- Incumbents will also participate in field trials, and should be fully capable of handling almost any trial situation either of a routine or non-routine nature.
- Document customer visits, technical support, and lab development in a timely manner. Protect Intellectual Property by awareness of patents relevant to development programs, compliance with all relevant secrecy agreements, and proactive initiation of invention reports and patent applications.
- The incumbent must be able to communicate well and professionally. Work very closely with the account managers to ensure consistent approach to the business strategy and plans. Work collaboratively with the Technology and Innovation group to assist with development programs.
- The incumbent must be able to remain effective in a dynamic, high energy, team-oriented environment; they must have the ability to handle unexpected events or setbacks, changes in work assignments, pressing deadlines, and other stressful events in a professional manner.
- Significant travel may be required (up to 50%) to perform the duties associated with the position. Such travel is likely to be within the US and Canada.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or a similar applicable field is required and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in chemistry, engineering, mechanical, or a similar appropriate industrial environment.
