Job Description:  

This is a mid-level technical position. People in this position perform a variety of technical tasks in the field and office in an independent manner, may provide supervision of technical support staff, and will be required to work as Chief Inspector (or Resident) on active construction projects. 

Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Monitor and enforce the contractors TCP, SEWPCP, and QC Plan. 
  • Assure that work inspected meets the standard specifications and contract requirements,  
  • Ensure work is tested as per policy and meets expected quality, 
  • Serves as an onsite representative for MaineDOT on active construction projects,
  • Assists resident engineers, resident inspectors and project managers in order to problem solve design and construction issues and manage complex construction projects,
  • Estimates, measures, and reviews quantities for complex projects using appropriate tools such as scales, planimeters, calculators, and computer software in order to document and compute quantities for payment to the contractor, and,
  • Winter duties may include estimating quantities and preparing contract packages for moderately complex construction projects. 

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
