Engineering Intern

Pennoni is hiring!  In particular, we are looking for an Engineering intern to contribute part-time in a role at our office in Newark, NJ.  This person will have the opportunity to work on a variety of municipal improvement & private site development projects while supporting full time Engineers in all aspects of our projects: conceptual planning, preliminary design, detailed development, construction documentation, permitting documentation, and engineering reports).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Due diligence investigations ahead of site development projects and to aid in municipal improvement efforts.

• Assist with preliminary design and engineering of various types of retail, commercial, industrial and residential site layouts.

• Visit sites to review conditions and/or construction progress as representatives of Pennoni.

• Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine site feasibility or in conjunction with review of land use board applications.

• Prepare civil design drawing packages and specifications under guidance from supervisors

• Assist in the design of stormwater management systems.

 Basic Requirement:

• Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field at an accredited College/University

• Valid driver’s license, valid personal insurance, & a personal vehicle to travel to various sites during a given workday. Work related travel is reimbursed by Pennoni.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge. Sheet set/plan production experience a plus.
• General knowledge of Hydraulic and Stormwater Design Programs.
• Design and drafting capabilities.
• Grading and drainage knowledge/experience.
• Familiarity with HEC-RAS
• Gravity Flow – Hydraulic Analysis, Manning’s Equation
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.

 

Target Salary: $20- $30 per hour
