About the role

The Senior Manager of Business Application Services will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a multidisciplinary team of analysts focused on the fulfilling the goals and Connecticut Children’s strategic vision as it relates to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and other non-clinical systems.  They are accountable for evaluation, planning, design, development, training, and implementation for core business and administrative systems. They may provide project management for complex implementations, as well as issue resolution. Develops and ensures consistent work processes and implements process improvement opportunities towards highly effective support and implementation services.  The Senior Manager Business Application Services is highly visible and establishes relationships with key administrative, business, clinical, and research leaders to align operational strategy with IS requirements and solutions.  Position is expected to independently carry our assigned responsibilities and acts decisively to identify and apply innovative solutions to complex system problems.  They will act as the point of escalation for all business application needs, tactical and strategic.

Directly contributes to setting direction of departmental strategy for Business Application Services as well as supporting overall IS strategy

  • Accountable for direction setting and maintenance of all Business Application Services teams, including personnel engagement, disciplinary actions, staffing decisions, priorities, work process, work output, and standards development
  • Proactively advises the organization on methods to enhance and optimize existing systems, as well as providing leadership and guidance on carrying out new solutions.
  • Accountable for system selection, development, support, and continued optimization of systems to meet functional objectives.
  • Works with peer IS and operational management to plan and execute the implementation and support of business systems and workflows, ensuring training and data output needs are met.
  • Collaborating with peers, implement quality improvement initiatives, including mechanisms for continuous assessment, development and implementation of incremental solutions, along with relevant policies and procedures to improve effectiveness and ensure highest quality work.
  • Creates, enhances, and enforces policies and procedures for standard procedures, change management, incident management, documentation, problem resolution, and root cause analysis.
  • Develops, manages, and forecasts capacity requirements based on future operational and strategic needs.
  • Serve as an expert resource to IS teams in planning the resource requirements for non-clinical business systems under development.
  • Develops and implement standard operating procedures for the support, maintenance and optimization. Identify areas for improvement and automation.
  • Establishes and maintains foundational relationships with key organizational stakeholders and leaders to ensure priorities are aligned and service level expectations are met
  • Accountable for budgetary needs and issues, including development of operating and capital budgets, justifying and remediating variances, managing expenses while seeking fiduciary benefits.
  • Maintains relationships with third party vendors. 
  • Must role model Connecticut Children’s Service Behaviors and Leadership Competencies in all professional interactions.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Required:

Education Required: 

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field with 8-11 years of relevant healthcare experience.

Education Preferred:

  • Master’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant healthcare experience required.

Experience Required: 

  • Must encompass at least 3-5 years of management experience including direct staff supervision and project/program management.
  • Enterprise system implementation and support experience with strong understanding of financial, supply chain, or patient accounting workflows are required. 
  • Experience with specific ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar.

Experience Preferred:

  • Have demonstrated proficiency and knowledge with infrastructure, databases, server/application environments, information security requirements, and end-user device needs.

License and/or Certification Required:
