The Team
Black & Veatch’s Asset Management Team focuses on helping clients plan, operate, maintain, monitor, rehabilitate,and replace their assets in the right way at the right time. The result is that clients optimize asset performance, manage risk, and drive down operational, maintenance, and capital costs.
The Remote Operations Center Team is a specialized group responsible for operating and monitoring assets for clients as well as documenting and tracking progress of maintenance related work.
The operator position is based in Black & Veatch's world headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.
Job Summary
This senior level Operator position is based in the Overland Park World Head Quarters. The Operator will be operating and monitoring assets for clients as well as documenting and tracking progress of maintenance related work. This individual will report to the ROC Manager.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Performs real-time operations of distributed asset power generation technologies in the Remote Operations Center (ROC).
- Interfaces with multiple parties for identification, diagnosis, and resolution of site operations andmaintenance problems, including the site O&M team, site owner, regulatory agencies, and B&V leadership.
- Performs and leads junior operators in all aspects of ROC responsibilities including communications with clients as well as internal team members to maintain contractual obligations.
- Follows and operates to scheduled energy dispatch instructions.
- Follows process and procedures for both site-specific projects and the Remote Operations Center.
- Stands watch in rotational shift-work developed in coordination with the ROC Manager.
- Coordinates with Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D) teams using predictive analytics for proactive monitoring of power generation, renewables, process industries, and generation assets.
- Provides advanced knowledge and expertise in distributed energy systems and use of control applications, standards, and document control process/procedures in support of remote operations.
- Mentors, develops, and potential for acting as supervisor for less experienced team members
- Provides feedback and input into process and procedure development and refinement.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supports business development and provides input into project proposals.
- Participates in business and planning meetings.
- Helps the ROC Manager manage and optimize ROC Operator rotational shift-work schedule.
- Supports the coordination, development, and delivery of advanced training material and programs.
- In emergency situations, can step in and act as the ROC Manager.
- Supports on-boarding new Operator professionals.
- Assists with on-boarding new clients into the Remote Operations Center and incorporating them into ROC processes.
