At Nationwide®, “on your side” goes beyond just words. Our customers are at the center of everything we do and we’re looking for associates who are passionate about delivering extraordinary care.

This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Mondays & Wednesdays.

The Network Core and Cloud team is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Campus Network Services team. This team is responsible for the connectivity powering our corporate offices, remote sites, and critical user experiences.

This role is ideal for a leader who can pair technical depth with operational rigor, people leadership, and a passion for modern ways of working.

Scope

  • A team of 10–12 experienced network engineers responsible for campus LAN, WLAN, remote office connectivity, and lifecycle management.

  • A large, complex IT asset portfolio requiring precise stewardship around accuracy, lifecycle planning, fixed‑asset controls, and financial governance.

  • The team’s transition into Scaled Agile for Enterprise (SAFe)—helping engineers embrace iterative delivery, lean portfolio practices, and continuous improvement.

  • Close partnership with Product, Architecture, Finance, and Operations to ensure we deliver highly reliable, compliant, and scalable network services.

Key Outcomes

  • Drive strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting for campus network services, including EDP, depreciation schedules, and asset lifecycle plans.

  • Develop people: coach engineers, create growth paths, and shape a healthy, high‑trust engineering culture.

  • Implement Lean management practices to simplify workflow, expose waste, and improve flow efficiency.

  • Strengthen ITSM alignment through ITIL fundamentals, asset accuracy, change quality, and incident/problem readiness.

  • Serve as a thought partner in our broader network modernization portfolio across datacenter, WAN, cloud, and colo environments.

Desired Capabilities

  • Experience leading technical teams in enterprise networking (campus, LAN/WLAN, site connectivity) or similar technical domain.

  • Strong understanding of Lean, Agile fundamentals, and/or SAFe—with a desire to help others mature in these practices.

  • Familiarity with managerial finance (forecasting, depreciation, CapEx planning, asset controls).

  • Comfort operating within structured ITSM environments and balancing stability with innovation.

  • A creative mindset—curious, open to new approaches, and eager to help a team evolve.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll shape the future of how thousands of employees connect and collaborate every day. You’ll modernize our practices, scale our engineering maturity, and help build a world‑class network capability. If you’re a leader who blends creativity with operational excellence, this role gives you the opportunity to make a visible and lasting impact.
