In this vital role the External Supply Operations provides a strategic dimension to Amgen's manufacturing network to improve operational competitiveness and ensure uninterrupted global supply of medicines to our patients. In order to continue to provide the supplemental capacity to the Amgen manufacturing network, it is increasingly important that External Supply Operations establish consistent, robust processes and systems to ensure quality and supply reliability with our external contract manufacturing network while closely partnering with our internal networks as well. External Supply Operations is seeking a Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Manager to join the Portfolio Strategy & Management (PSM) team. This role will be primarily focused on Risk Management and Sustainability for the Amgen Contract Development and Manufacturing as well as Raw Materials and Devices. This individual will report to the Associate Director of the PSM team. The successful candidate will lead and manage External Supply Operations risk management and sustainability program, projects, strategies and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework and policy for External Supply including risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks to Amgen's supply chain and business operations.
  • Manage the External Supply's risk register and ensure timely and effective risk mitigation and critical issue.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives to support Amgen's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management and sustainability programs, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Engage and communicate with internal and external collaborators on risk and sustainability issues, and foster a culture of risk awareness and sustainability across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards related to risk management and sustainability

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A commitment to Amgen's values and a passion for making a positive impact on the world.
  • Masters's degree or professional certification in risk management, sustainability, business administration or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in risk management and sustainability frameworks, and standards.
  • Experience in risk management and sustainability within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams towards achieving strategic goals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with collaborators at all levels.
  • Ability to travel +/- 20% of time (domestic and international)

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
